53rd World Day of Peace 2020

Invitation to Sheikh Khaled Bentounes by the Interreligious Service of the Permanent Mission of the Holy See to the United Nations, on 28 January 2020, at the Church of Saint Nicholas of Flüe in Geneva, on the theme:

“PEACE AS A JOURNEY OF HOPE: DIALOGUE, RECONCILIATION AND ECOLOGICAL CONVERSION”

Each year, this Interreligious Service provides an opportunity to reflect together on peace with the diplomatic community, the international community and the authorities of Geneva, as well as representatives of Christian, Jewish, Muslim and Buddhist communities.

This celebration, attended by His Eminence Cardinal Miguel Ángel Ayuso Guixot, President of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue, was also organised by the Diocese of Lausanne, Geneva and Fribourg.

Sheikh Bentounes was invited to deliver an address based on the Message of His Holiness Pope Francis for the 2020 World Day of Peace.

This gathering, organised by Archbishop Ivan Jurkovič, Apostolic Nuncio and Permanent Observer, was a unique opportunity to experience genuine fraternity among members of the religious communities present.
